Online Therapy for Anxiety, OCD, & Eating Issues

Online therapy is sometimes called virtual therapy, online counseling, or “telepsycyh.” The number of adults using online therapy to better their lives has exploded. At TherLively, we provide quality, online therapy (from Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas to you) that is secure, evidence-based, and fits your life. We specialize in online therapy for adults experiencing anxiety, OCD, and eating disorders.

Benefits of Online Therapy:

There are numerous benefits to virtual exposure therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).

☼ Convenience - “I love sitting in rush hour traffic,” said nobody ever. Meeting with your therapist virtually allows you to bypass traffic and the effort of finding a parking spot and navigating a cramped parking garage. You can easily log into your virtual session from the comfort of your home while the kids nap, your private office in between work meetings, or take a leisurely morning to yourself before working on yourself from home. Ultimately, virtual therapy saves you a precious commodity—your time.

☼ Access - Living in a rural area might limit your access to licensed psychologists. Frequent traveling might make it hard to reap the benefits of regular therapy. However, online therapy has the potential to help you overcome geographical barriers to regularly seeing your therapist. It can also remove barriers that weather might present to therapy, such as a blizzard or ice storm.

☼ Specialization - It can be hard to find a licensed psychologist with a doctorate degree who specializes in treating anxiety, OCD, and eating disorders and gets you. By not limiting your search for a therapist to 10 minutes from where you live, it makes it less challenging to find a human being with whom you not only connect but who also specializes in your therapeutic needs.

☼ Continuity - Of the things we have influence over in therapy, your relationship with your therapist can have the biggest impact on the benefits you receive from therapy. Moving for a new job, relationship, or the next adventure used to mean you’d also need to find a new therapist while already in the midst of significant change. Traveling for a business trip or vacation used to mean you’d have to skip your weekly therapy session. However, psychologists who are credentialed through PsyPact can practice across some state lines. Virtually seeing a psychologist who is credentialed through PsyPact at TherLively may enable you to continue therapy with your therapist when moving, or visiting a PsyPact participating state.

☼ Consistency - When therapy is convenient, access is easy, and you’re working with a specialist who gets you, you’re more likely to be consistent in attending your therapy sessions. You’re also more likely to follow through on your goals in between sessions. At TherLively, we believe the best therapy for you is the therapy that you can do, and actually do.

Signs Online Therapy Might Be Right For You:

☼ You’re reading this on a phone, computer, or smartphone; you’re comfortable with technology

☼ You have a computer with a camera and a strong internet connection

☼ You have a private space to do therapy sessions

☼ You value your time

☼ The ability to see a therapist from the comfort of your own place just sounds nice

Signs Online Therapy Might Not Be Best For You:

☼ You’re a young child

☼ No strong internet connection

☼ You hate computers, i-Pads, all technology

☼ Lack of privacy at home or work

☼ Active suicidal ideation

☼ Severe symptoms

While online therapy can be incredibly beneficial for many people, there are always exceptions.

For example, young children might benefit from therapy in person. If you’re having thoughts about ending your life or experiencing intense depression, getting out and working with someone in person might be a better fit for you at this time. If you don’t have privacy at home, then you might be more comfortable going into a therapy office. If you’re experiencing severe symptoms, you might benefit from a higher level of care that provides more support for you at this time, such as an intensive outpatient program or hospital.

☼ Anxiety

What is PsyPact?

PsyPact is an interstate compact offering qualified psychologists a regulated way to practice in multiple states. PsyPact helps to enable the practice of online therapy across some state boundaries. In order to practice telepsychology in PsyPact states, psychologists must apply to the PsyPact Commission for an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional. They are also required to complete continuing education courses on an annual basis.
