FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I start therapy at TherLively?
We want you to get the best therapy for you. Reading through our website is the first step in making sure we’re a good fit for you. Then, there are three steps to get started with therapy with us:
1. Contact us:
Complete the THERAPY INTEREST FORM. Please make sure to click the submit button at the end. (If you prefer to request an intake appointment time before completing the therapy interest form, you can click the schedule button in the navigation bar.)
2. Schedule and get ready for your intake:
We’ll reach out to you and schedule (or confirm) an intake appointment if we think we’re the best fit for what you’re seeking. (You can usually expect to hear from us within 48 business hours—unless we’re out of the office. If you haven’t heard from us within 48 business hours, your therapy interest form submission might not have gone through. Please email us at admin@TherLively.com to follow up.) Then, we’ll let you know how to log into our secure online portal to complete your paperwork electronically from the comfort of your home. This helps you get a head start before your intake appointment. We ask you to complete these forms at least 48 business hours prior to your scheduled appointment so that your therapist has time to review them before your meeting.
3. Attend your intake session:
Attend an intake appointment where your therapist will continue the process of getting to know you, learn more about what you’re experiencing, and share their recommendations. If time allows, you’ll also further discuss your goals for therapy.
How much do therapy sessions cost?
Most therapy sessions usually last about 45-50 minutes and are $250. Your first appointment, typically called an intake appointment, is $300 (and typically lasts about 80 minutes).
What’s your cancellation policy?
We kindly ask you to let us know as soon as you can if you need to cancel an appointment. No-shows and appointments canceled less than 48 hours in advance will be charged the full appointment fee.
Do you take insurance?
We want to provide the best possible care to you, and not accepting insurance is how we’ve managed to do that at TherLively. We can provide you with a detailed receipt (superbill) on a monthly basis to assist you in seeking out-of-network reimbursement with your health insurance provider. Many of our clients (particularly those with PPO plans) have success in seeking reimbursement with their insurance company, but you’ll need to consult with your insurance company directly to determine your out-of-network benefits.
Payment is due the day of your appointment. We accept most major credit cards. You may also use your HSA/FSA card to pay for therapy sessions.
Do you take Medicare?
Effective January 1st 2024, TherLively and all its providers have chosen to opt-out as a Medicare provider. Therefore, all session fees are due at the time of service and may not be submitted for reimbursement through Medicare or any related supplemental coverage. If you’d like to use your Medicare coverage for counseling services, you need to locate a provider affiliated with Medicare. If you are a Medicare participant in Texas and want to self-pay for your therapy sessions, we can talk to you about how to do this. Please let us know if you are a Medicare participant.
How often are therapy sessions?
You and your therapist will meet regularly to actively work on your goals for therapy. Sessions usually take place on a weekly basis, but occasionally your therapist will recommend meeting more or less frequently to start. You can discuss this more at your intake appointment. Click here to learn more about intake appointments at TherLively.
How long does therapy last?
Because therapy is highly individualized and evolves over time, it’s near impossible to know the exact timeframe of therapy before you start. The time therapy lasts tends to depend on a variety of factors (such as, your therapy goals, severity of what you’re experiencing, number of concerns you want to address, frequency of sessions, previous experience with therapy, your readiness to engage in therapy, completion of action plans between sessions, etc.). Please talk to your therapist about any questions you have about the length of therapy. Your therapist can also help you to prepare for graduating from therapy and planning to gradually transition out of therapy once you’ve met your goals and you’re ready.
